Alaska vs Global Port Jan 10 Full Game 4 Philippine Cup

PBA Replay: Alaska vs Global Port Jan 10 Full Game Philippine Cup, The Alaska Aces controlled the game from the very beginning as they cruised to a 109-84 victory over GlobalPort in Game 4 of their SMART BRO PBA Philippine Cup semifinal series on Sunday at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.

Calvin Abueva led the way with 20 points and 13 rebounds while Dondon Hontiveros added 16 markers as Alaska came to within a win of making the finals after taking a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Alaska controlled the game from the very beginning with its veteran-laden starting unit – composed of Hontiveros, JVee Casio, Sonny Thoss, Eric Menk and Ping Exciminiano – orchestrating a 13-4 start on the strength of a 7-0 blast to open the game.

Hontiveros was solid, knocking down a triple and drawing a foul on another as he led all scorers in the first quarter with eight points.

The Aces led by double digits, 32-20, at the end of the first.

While GlobalPort tried to battle back in the second quarter, Alaska pushed the margin to 16 points after rattling off an 8-0 run late in the period.

Hontiveros hit a three-pointer and Casio finished on an and-one play in transition and Tony Dela Cruz took care of two free throws to make it 54-38 for the Aces in the final minute of the first half.

The teams entered the break with Alaska on top, 54-40.

Hontiveros had 13 while Abueva had 11 points and six rebounds to lead the Aces. Terrence Romeo had nine points for GlobalPort but shot just 4-for-10 from the field.

In the third quarter, Alaska coach Alex Compton turned to an ace in the hole – Cyrus Baguio, who sat out the entire first half. He came in to bring some instant offense, scoring eight points on 3-for-3 shooting, including two three-pointers, in just under eight minutes of play in the period.

The Aces then took over the game after closing the period on a 10-1 run in the last four minutes of the third.

Vic Manuel scored the first two baskets of Alaska in that run, scoring first on a putback then again a few seconds later after cleaning up a miss by Abueva.

Hontiveros then knocked down another triple, his third of the contest, before Joseph Yeo ended GlobalPort’s drought with a split from the free throw line. Abueva, though, scored again and Banchero finished in transition to make it a whopping 20-point advantage, 82-62, for the Aces game match-up highlights and replay.

Alaska then put the game away in the fourth quarter after Rome Dela Rosa stole the basketball and found Manuel streaking for a wide open dunk in transition that made it 104-80 at the 2:59 mark of the fourth.
